The unissued Jubilee St. Wenceslas ducat designed by Josef Šejnost is a coin legend in collector circles. Political representatives and economists have alternately dealt with the idea of presenting the Czechoslovak state in the form of issuing gold coins since the first days of the republic's establishment. It was only Minister Alois Rašín who gave it a real form.
It was in 1922 when he ordered a design for this ducat from Josef Šejnost and, together with the Prague bishop Antonín Podlah, they organized the photography of a live model of Prince Wenceslas, who was to be depicted on the ducats.
The commission guaranteed the historical authenticity of the selected armor and clothing of the model. Prince Wenceslas was to be conceived in full figure in order to maintain continuity with the gold coins of the Czech state since the time of King Charles IV.
This design by Josef Šejnost was appreciated, but was not implemented due to the premature death of Alois Rašín, which led to the liquidation of his concept. The commission ultimately selected the design of Otakar Španiel for implementation.
