The Hungarian millennial excavations were minted in Kremnica on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the arrival of the Hungarians in the Danube plain. They are stylized imitations of old Hungarian coins with an altered image of the monarch and a description of Francis Joseph I. They were minted at very low cost for representational and collecting purposes. The modeling of the designs and the style of the mintage were to evoke the original period mintage. The authors of the proposals are Karl Gerl, Josef Reisner and Alexander Mayer.
